COMO Metropolitan London

by Yemi Edwards

Trendy, modern and contemporary are a few words that you would use to describe this prestigious hotel situated on one of London’s iconic streets. Park Lane is home to the COMO Metropolitan London, which consists of the Nobu restaurant, providing a Japanese and Peruvian fusion of cuisine, the hip buzzy Met Bar (which is soon to be renovated in to a new concept) and Wellness by COMO Shambhala giving guests a tranquil escape of the hustle and bustle of London.

The COMO Metropolitan London’s location in London could not be more sought after by someone travelling to the capitol. With views spanning across Hyde Park and easy access by foot to Piccadilly, Knightsbridge and Mayfair, it makes this hotel an ideal tourist’s destination to truly experience the chic side of London. The hotel is also fairly easy to reach from the London airports and Victoria Train station and pre booked parking is also available.Walking into the hotel you will be greeted with a warm smile and very friendly staff. The interior is quite spacious and welcoming. The hotel incorporation of aspects of Hyde Park and mix of Italian features gives a feeling of relaxation and calmness, helping you forget about the hotel’s position on a busy road. Though the hotel has 144 rooms and suites, you would not feel it when you first walk in to check in as there is a real intimate boutique feel to the hotel. Swift and thorough attention was given to me and I did not feel rushed at reception, it was a grand and a great start to the stay.

We stayed in the The Park suite, a very stylish one-bedroom suite with panoramic views over the beautiful Hyde Park. Just in the midst of “the beast of the east” the view was a lovely post Christmas feel with snow covering the green space in front of us. It was a wonderful first impression of the room. The wall to ceiling windows gave the room an extraordinary feel of open space. The suite was one bedroom with a living room, a long mirrored hallway and a large bathroom. The beautiful wooden and glass bar area and desk for working away from home is just perfect for a business trip. I had a lot of fun using the state of the art technology within the room, which was equipped with touch screen controls for the lights, windows, room temperature and entertainment. The King size bed was extremely inviting and provided a very much-needed comfortable sleep after dinner at the newly launched The Square restaurant. The room and hotel is perfect for possible late night returns from entertainment a tourist embarks on whilst in the city, which pretty much rarely sleeps. The bed is also great for those who do require quality slumber for an early start. The bathroom was luxurious in itself. Though it lacked a bit of space for us girls with large makeup routines. Although, this was made up in my eyes after I was immediately whisked away by what felt like a glorious massage with the wonderful warmth and perfect pressure from the rainfall shower!I loved the tranquil atmosphere the hotel had. It left a very lasting impression. It did feel like I walked out of the chaos the weather was causing on the streets of London into a very warm and cosy Zen of a space giving me the ability to forget the nonsense happening just outside the revolving doors of the hotel. I was very impressed with the space within the suite and the lushness of the furniture and decor making the room feel super comfortable and luxury home away from home. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive to my needs in a very timely manner, all requests we made were dealt with promptly. I personally could not fault the hotel, my only wish is that I had had the opportunity to dine within the restaurant, but there will definitely be a next time. I very much look forward to returning to this oasis in the centre of one of London’s busiest districts.
