CityPM? I inquired from a well-heeled high flying banker friend who works and lives in the city of London. Yes ‘CityPM jazz in the garden’ at the newly refurbished Coq D’argent rooftop bar as it is termed is the latest socialising phenomenon for the city slickers. The newly refurbished bar done by renowned interior designer, Sagrada still maintains its Parisian chic element however it has been transported into the modern world with a very contemporary interior featuring striking aged brass, bronze glass, upcycled and vintage pieces, placed alongside free-standing lighting structures. The Coq D’argent which sits atop Number One Poultry and is a favourite among the movers and shakers in the world of finance and banking provides a rooftop garden that is perfect for a summers evening offering the best views of the London skyline in the company of some of London’s most devilishly good looking people on any given day of the week.
I decided to see what the ‘CityPM jazz in the garden’ hype was all about so I sneaked in one evening and to my delight there was a live band playing in the gardens giving an exotic bar in Miami vibe. Yes it was full of good looking and well-dressed men and women as promised all sipping on cocktails from the CityPM bar menu curated by Coq d’argent’s head barman.
The ‘CityPM jazz in the garden’ 1920s Paris inspired cocktail menu reads out like something from the French version of sex and the city with cocktails such as the Tarte aux fraises, Summer dream, Royal punch and My favourite being the Passionément the sinfully delicious Parisian cousin to the pornstar martini. The Coq D’Argent bar also offers bar snacks prepared by Head Chef Damien Rigollet and served on small plates including Hutre de Roche (Rock oysters ti me and you), deep fried calamari served with french fries and tarter sauce, a delightful artisanal charcuterie board served with bread and my favourite on the menu, the Escargot a l’ail which is six snails with garlic and parsley butter.
“CityPM” live jazz series will be held throughout the summer in the stunning garden at Coq d’Argent, overlooking the City in collaboration with Moet & Chandon with performances taking place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 6pm and 10pm as well as Saturdays from 7pm to 11pm until end of August.
