So Spa

by Lady Charlotte Lynham

I feel sacrilegious.

In the last 10 days I have created a controversial art house erotic film “Do Not Disturb Tonteria”, launched a sexy latex and lingerie “Do Not Disturb” party, and attended a London Fashion Week Karen K fashion show in a Baptist church wearing only a pair of navy blue disco short shorts, black tights, a black Versace-style gold buttoned vest push-up bra and a Cruella Deville style floor length mink. The film was featured in The Sun as being “porn”, the party deemed “SexMex” in GQ, and my outfit referred to by Karen K’s PR as “pants”.

I needed a peaceful break from the world of fashion and erotica so I went to Paris . . . Well, Paris in London in the form of the French-inspired Sofitel London St James SO Spa.

The Sofitel SPA in St James is a quiet quirky respite from the hustle and bustle of London. When I entered this historic Grade-2 listed marbled-interior building, I instantly felt at ease with the friendly reception staff and calm and quiet atmosphere.

It was certainly not my normal fashiontastic hub. The spa is cute and distinctive: impressively surrounded by oak, marble walls and columns with a quaint tea bar where one can relax with a cup of tea and French macaroons after massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, Or alternatively after a private hamam treatment with “rain sky” showers by Dornbracht complete with aromatic essences. For the most acute fashion dog fanatics, the spa is even pooch-friendly with a huge French poodle carved out of a bush in the French garden at reception and a range of doggy beauty products.

Needing a change from the London-city buzz, I chose a 60-minute SO Spa Exhilarating Massage, which promises a euphoric and soothing body massage, using signaturete chniques that will shape and tone your silhouette.  With ethnic Moroccan style music in a dimly-lit room with the bed ever-so slightly warmed and crisp white sheets I was ready to unwind. Mathilde’s massage was soothing and relaxing, although I usually opt for a extremely rough deep tissue massage and stretch from my Chinese masseur “Steven”. It was lovely though and, as I had just been to the Mawi fashion party at Le Baron the night before as well as the Sextape Party at 2&8, I almost passed out cold. I would have stayed longer for herbal tea and French macaroons albeit I needed to dash off.

If you are ever feeling sinful or in need of a quick retreat to Paris mes cheries, skip over to St James to the Sofitel So Spa or call Sofitel SO Spa for your indulgent pamper session on 0207 747 2204.
