And there we were: watching a fleet of the Prince’s supercars and trucks racing across the heat-stricken Bahraini desert next to an oil rig, for the filming of 50 Cent’s DJ Whoo Kid’s upcoming music video.

It started off with a conversation. As all things do.

The night before, I had launched Tonteria’s second international party with X-clusive Events atop the Domain Hotel. With huge “TonteMania” fighting wrestlers and fluorescent latex-clad “Do Not Disturb” models in tow, I arrived in Bahrain to throw a party to celebrate the Grand Prix. And what a party it was!

DJ Whoo Kid flew in from New York for the night’s sparkling event on the 35th floor of the beautiful Domain Hotel, which was covered in glass and had midnight views out onto the cityscape. Bottles of Bacardi with sparklers were delivered to Saudi, Dubai, and Bahrain royalty whilst models danced to hip hop music specially mixed by one of the best.

The Domain Hotel is a beautiful 36-floor modern 5-star hotel in the diplomatic area of Bahrain, Manama. Chic and simple with efficient customer service; The Domain Hotel gave us a place to party, eat, and relax.

The Domain Hotel is a beautiful 36-floor modern 5-star hotel in the diplomatic area of Bahrain, Manama. Chic and simple with efficient customer service; The Domain Hotel gave us a place to party, eat, and relax.

The Domain Hotel boasts nine restaurants, bars and lounges, and simple good food delivered to your room at all hours (we ordered humungous prawns with our fresh Caesar salads at 5am after the party). It was delicious and the staff were polite and friendly (even at that hour!). As The Domain’s second in command, Kim B Andersen was quite right in saying, “The Domain model was built on people, not design, so we had to shape ourselves around the way people like to eat, meet, and entertain”.

The restaurants include Txoko (a Basque sky lounge which serves tapas), Imari (a nautical-themed Japanese restaurant with views onto the city), Le Domain (a South of France restaurant), Le Sauvage (a grill room), The Living Room (a social space where I had a delicious brunch on the 16th floor), and Figs and Olives (for Italo-Lebanese sandwiches, mezze, salads and pastries). The Domain also boasts The Cigar Lounge, The Curator (lobby shop), Anthology media lounge (the world’s first dedicated social media lounge), and The Deli (for cakes and coffees).

Before the big event, I decided to try out their spa facilities which include a women-only spa, pool, and fully equipped gym centre. The deep tissue massage was relaxing and the small pool overlooking the city line was perfect for a pre-party dip.

From a California girl travelling from London to Bahrain with English performers, dancers from Miami, and a New York DJ, I credit the uniqueness and friendly customer service of the Domain Hotel for spectacularly pleasing us all!
