As embarrassing as it is, you know that I am a big advocate of natural skin and body care, but truth to be known I was yet to try Olverum’s products. I had heard so many great things about them but was yet to give them a go. That has now all changed. They are indeed just as divine, as I had repeatedly been told, and there is no going back for me. Their bath oil and bath salts now have a firm place on my bathroom shelf, and also it turns out by my bedside as they have a beautiful sleep spray; Restful Sleep Pillow Mist. This mist is a calming blend that does wonders for my busy and fluctuating mind. Olverum was founded in 1931 and was a proper pioneer when it came to clean beauty and today if you go on their website you’ll find an A-Z with all the ingredients they use in their products, all beautifully described, if that’s not transparency what is? They are all vegan and cruelty-free, free from artificial preservatives, fragrances, colourants, Silicone, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Sulphates, Phthalates and Parabens. Olverum you certainly have a new fan!

I have also tested Sakrid Organic Clean + Calm Shampoo and Smooth + Silk Conditioner. No nasty ingredients and the main ones in the shampoo are oat milk, that enhances the hair strength, aloe vera that nourishes the scalp and frankincense oil known to improve blood circulation. In the conditioner there is again oat milk and aloe vera but also Aegean oil that is well known for its moisturising and protecting properties for hair. I will admit I was sceptical at first, many “natural” hair care products that I have tried in the past does just not cut it to treat thin and fragile hair, these do. Your hair feels soft and is easy to detangle, and it smells divine. Did I say it’s vegan friendly too?!?
I have also updated my evening skincare routine with a cleanser from Byoma, it’s a creamy jelly cleanser with tri-ceramide complex, liquorice root and green tea. The active ingredients claims to boost your skin barrier, hydrate and brighten. It’s PH balanced and I loved the feeling of the creamy lather that is definitely not drying whilst still properly cleaning your skin removing all trace of makeup without stripping your skin from moisture. Great for all skin types.
Next step is Pacifica’s Vegan Collagen Hydrating Milk Tonic with orange flower, it’s alcohol free (a must), vegan and cruelty free, and it suits all skin types. I normally always tone with rose water which I find calming for my sensitive skin but this toner feels like it does that as well as adding a level of hydration.
That step is followed by nutrition for your skin in form of Pacifica’s Vegan Collagen Recovery Eye Cream. Pacifica derives their vegan collagen through a plant based fermentation process that uses zero animal input meanwhile demonstrating similar structural, biochemical, physical and biological properties as regular collagen. It is rich which I love but still quickly sinks into your skin leaving it feeling hydrated. So does Sakrid’s Superfood Frenzy Organic Moisturiser that works alongside Mother Nature to bring your skin’s hydration level and glow back all whilst being toxin and chemical free, vegan, organic and with a conscious supply chain as all their products.

In the morning I do pretty much the same routine but adding a Vitamin C serum under the moisturiser as well as a Tinted SPF, a concealer and my new favourite mascara; Pacifica’s Vegan Collagen Fluffy Lash. Let’s all first agree that it is the most perfect name for a mascara that adds volume, but without flaking which is such a key and it’s nourishing at the same time. It comes in a glass bottle and has a vegan brush, all extra plus for this gem in a bottle. I then apply deodorant, as I’d hope we all do, but as with time we have learnt the original deodorants was full of aluminium and nasty ingredients we no longer want them as they block important glands underneath our arms, Milly and Sissy does a powder that you mix with water and then pour into a roll on glass bottle that you then can keep and clean and refill with a new powder saving plastic and storage bottles. Everything that can be reused and refilled gets an extra gold star, it also smells divine of cotton fresh and is vegan and cruelty free.
I love that all these products have nice and mindful packaging thinking not only in terms of what’s being applied on the skin but as well as the impact our skincare consumption has on the environment. So give these clean beauty products a go and take those first steps towards being more eco with your beauty regime.
