After a hard day’s wine tasting across the beautiful vineyards of West Kelowna, one should consider stopping by the Cove Lakeside Resort’s a luxurious Okanagan Spa. Described fittingly as a ‘sanctuary within a sanctuary’, this small and intimate Spa lies tucked away in the foothills of the Okanagan desert mountains, in the foyer of the Cove Resort. This lovely space is one for relaxation, rejuvenation, and replenishment, where a variety of treatments and facilities are at hand. Based on an interior design redolent of the natural wild landscape against which it sits, the Spa at the Cove opens out onto views of the Okanagan Lake and the lush Gellatly Gardens. With a pool out back to rest and sunbathe by, hot tub to soak in, and series of treatment rooms for pampering, this Spa has all you need for a relax session.
The Spa is based on Aveda products and concepts, with a philosophy that champions Soothing the Spirit so that Beauty will Follow. The Spa offers a series of treatments and packages, including Hydrotherapy, Esthetics, and Massages. For the packages, one can pick from an array that includes a Rosemary Mint Revitaliser – a Rosemary mint body wrap with gift to take home, Caribbean Breeze with body treatment, pedicure/manicure, Bridal Bliss and Spa Escape – amongst others. Offered with tea and nibbles, as well as a Mimosa for those that are keen, this Spa delivers virtually everything you need for the most relaxing West Kelowna escape.
My guest and I opted for the signature massage treatment – we were greeted promptly with a mimosa before our session and relaxed in the bright and soothing waiting area overlooking the Okanagan waterfront –the perfect way to settle into our relaxation. The staff was calming and welcoming, putting us at ease so that we could truly be present.
The 60 minute signature treatment was customised to our liking, with personalised pressure for comfort the technician utilised a variety of massage techniques. Other offerings include hot stone massage perfect for soothing and easing tension, European lymphatic drainer designed to improve circulation promote detoxification and weight loss, and foot reflexology – which is known to promote homeostasis in the body.
After our sessions, we opted for the infrared sauna – the recommended pairing after your massage session is known to increase blood circulation which carries off metabolic waste products and delivers oxygen to depleted muscles so that they recover faster. The muscle tissue relaxes best when warm, therefor allowing greater flexibility and range of motion.
Other offerings include three options for hydrotherapy, rosemary mint soak for energizing and refreshing your skin, Caribbean therapy soak for soothing your spirit and hydration, and the soothing aqua therapy soak –customized with your choice of aromatherapy meant to soften the skin. All hydrotherapy treatments are very affordable – only $30 for a 20 minute session.
No matter what type of relaxation your craving, the Cove Spa is perfect to compliment your stay in West Kelowna either pre or post winery hopping.
