The Perfect Night’s Sleep

by Lis-Marie Liden

Sleep is one of the most important parts for our existence, it allows our body and mind to recharge. It also helps your body stay healthy and without good sleep we wouldn’t be able to function properly. I know personally from my long life experience that if I don’t sleep well then I will not be able to perform properly throughout my day, whether it’s from the constant yawning or my lids feeling heavier than wearing the biggest fake lashes, it’s just not a good feeling. In this roundup I have tried out some amazing products to aid great sleep and I’m super excited to tell you all about it.

The first item is a nifty creation that I find myself using whenever I need to calm down and relax but also and more importantly just before going to sleep, it’s the Homedics Deep Sleep Machine. It plays different sounds to help you relax better and fall asleep easier, you can choose to have a guided meditation for instance as sleep therapy, or my favourite is to use the nature sounds. My sound of choice is the storm sound, it’s just something about falling asleep to the sound of thunder and rain. There is an option of 30,60 or 90 minutes and then it turns itself off. It comes with a charging USB cable which will after full charge give you 12hrs of calming sounds. You have a choice of volume but also sharpness of sound which I found super helpful as I like mine to be just a little muffled like I’m inside a cabin in the woods.

Right so the ambiance is set, we have our calming storm sounds on so let’s talk about pillows. I have since moving to London neglected proper bedding. I’m almost ashamed to say that. My poor non fluffy definitely not ergonomic pillows are cheap last minute finds from the high street where everyone goes when they just move here. So when I received the Sleepwell CBD Infused pillow with matching pillowcase from Slumberdown I was over the moon. The first thing that I noticed was the lush Lavender fragrance, I know that lavender is one of the best things you can spray on your pillow for a good night’s sleep. This pillow combined with the lavender also have Aloe Vera to help create that calming and comforting sensation. As we know CBD is known to help reduce anxiety and stress so imagine having a pillow infused with this. I was given the pillow with medium firmness allowing a natural curve of the spine to remain for a comfortable sleep. I have to admit, I slept like I haven’t had a good night sleep in ages. I usually without fail wake up at least 2-3 times per night but for the first time in ages, I slept through the night!

So now that we are snuggled down, during sleep it’s known our skin works hard to restore so why not aid it a little more all the while improving sleep quality. Look, we all know by now that I have lived longer than the internet has existed, my gosh, moving on quickly. So there are undoubtedly some fine lines on my face caused by mostly what I hope is smiling. Anyway, Dr Harris has created a revolutionary anti-aging sleep mask, it’s clinically proven to reduce those said lines. It’s a lovely and soft silk mask that has small silicone dots that once on your face work with your mechanoreceptors, these are points on your face that responds to touch that then unlocks muscle relaxation. You don’t have to sleep in it, even a 15 minute relaxation wearing this mask will benefit your skin and help relax those lines with lasting effects up to 5 hours. I wore it during my meditations as it helped me zone out at the same time, perfect addition.

Let’s have a look at the rest of the face. I have to my discontent, developed small amount of jowls, slight looseness of the skin on my jawline. So what do we do? Well, I reviewed for Macom Medical some years back and loved the product I received so I gladly accepted when I was asked to trial a new product of theirs. It’s the Face-Lifter which is actually a Post Surgical face and neck mask, however the composition of the face lifter helps with blood microcirculation, which promotes healthy cells, minimises swelling, increases lymph microcirculation and gives gorgeous compression, helping to sculpt and improve your complexion. So many wins! I mostly wear mine when doing whatever I need to have done at home during the day but you can sleep in it as well, it’s hypoallergenic, very breathable and fully adjustable.

I think this is the end of me counting endless sheep and the beginning of drifting seamlessly to sleep and waking up rested to fight another day.
