We have just past the darkest time of the year and I don’t know about you but I tend to hide away and feel quite down in winter. So I do what I can to boost my mood and I try my hardest to keep my body and soul happy before fully leaving my hibernation spot. Starting out I’d like to share my journey with Mood Oils, it’s pretty nifty actually and super helpful. I received the Gr-attidude, a gorgeous 100% pure oil filled with fragrant rose, Frankincense, Patchouli and Sandalwood. For a mini meditation moment simply add a few drops in your palms, rub together open your hands and inhale deep breaths. But the best part is that you can literally use it everywhere! Hair, body or why not in your diffuser to fill your entire space with Gr-attitude. I like the idea of a moments meditation so I simply inhale it from my open palms, “wellness made simple”.
Why not move over to a bit of yoga while we’re at this calm post meditative state. Liforme sent me to the most stunning yoga mat. A beautiful white mat with golden print to help you position yourself and stay aligned for your poses, I definitely need better alignment. My mat is the White Magic which is made in collaboration with international Yoga teacher Kino MacGregor. It has a lovely durable and non toxic fully eco friendly ink, the entire mat is biodegradable and PVC free. Goodness all around. It has a nice grip to it thanks to the natural rubber base and eco-polyurethane top surface. At first I was worried about it getting dirty but any marks are easily removed with wiping it with a bit of water. I’m super happy and the print on there mat is really helping me perfect my poses. Liforme also offers tips and tricks on Yoga for beginners such as myself so it’s worth a read.
After my yoga session it is time to hit the shower. To gently and naturally exfoliate my skin I have been trying out the Wildlife Revive Body Scrub. A stunning mixture of vitamins and antioxidants, it is finely grounded sea salt with shea butter and Grapeseed oil helping to gently exfoliate at the same time as giving sublime moisture. Plus to revive the skin and repair cells we have Rosehip oil giving a vitamin boost. There is a long list of lovely ingredients that support your skin, vegan friendly and 100% cruelty free. The softness of my skin afterwards is amazing and long lasting. I usually take my showers late in the evening and this allows the oils to fully sink in, a lush but not overpowering fragrance makes it feel super soothing.
My hair has forever been a struggling topic, I have come to accept though that while I might not have model locks, what I feed it does matter. I have stopped doing my classic highlights and actually like my rat colour, sorry I mean golden blonde hair. But I also like having just the front part a little blonder framing my face. Pro:voke have a selection of sets for whatever hair colour you have to make your hair look and feel its best. I received the Touch of Blonde set of Shampoo and Conditioner helping all types of blonde shades revive its luminescence. Deeply hydrating and protective of UV rays. Touch of Blonde helps repair damaged hair bonds all the while brightening your strands. Fully sulphate free and 100% vegan, blonde hair often need extra care and this set has really supported my hair regime.
I have some scars and a bunch of stretch marks from being alive, the scars are more visible than my stretch marks but I’m open to try and minimise the visibility of both. Nuture has a full range of products to support extra dry skin, stretch marks and scars. I was super intrigued as I have never really thought there was a way to do anything about this. My knee and my breasts are the worst affected, knee for scars and breasts for stretch marks. I used to be a small B-cup in my youth and then I wasn’t, DD-cup later and stretch marks galore. For my stretch marks I chose to use the Nourishing Skin Treatment Cream created to tackle said stretch marks. It’s a very rich cream containing a mix of stunning ingredients, Collagen, Squalane, Shea butter and Omega rich oils amongst many. All together they help improve tone and skin texture, and don’t worry if your stretch marks go back a few years, it works equally well on both new and old. For my knee I used the Nourishing Skin Treatment Oil, this also works for stretch marks if you prefer an oil to a cream. Inside we find 5 omega rich oils, Vitamin E and Squalane. It’s a lovely oil rich in fatty acids and antioxidants that in turn will help improve the appearance of scars. I am looking forward to seeing how it will go.
I also have some smaller scars on my face from stress rashes, yup, that’s what happens when you suppress your stress. So firstly let it out in whatever form you feel comfortable for one, boxing, screaming into your pillow or sing out loud to “You Oughta Know”, awlays works for me! Anyway for my face I used the Facial Treatment Serum, with its unique blend of ingredients helping to support not only scars but also hyperpigmentation. Win win situation! It helps accelerate the removal of dead skin cells as well as soothe and nourish the skin all the while it evens out your skin tone. I had a fairly new scar on my face and I have been watching it improve whilst using this so it’s exciting to have something helping especially on your face.
Depending on what my skin is after whichever day of the week I now have a lush set of serums to support its needs from Pietro Simone’s Fierce collection. It is very hard to chose which one to go for because they are all amazing, and honestly I don’t believe I really have to chose, I think my skin will thank me for treating it. I decided to start out strong with the Dewy Reboot, a hydration booster compound helping to plump, moisturise and fight against pollution damage amongst so many amazing things, and it has a lovely fresh fragrance. Instead of using my finger tips I proceeded to place a few drops directly on my face, the reason for this is that I didn’t want to risk too much absorption through my hands before applying. To replenish my skin properly and more in depth I used the Fierce Oil whilst also treating my skin to a lovely Gua Sha massage; this helps to stimulate circulation, decrease puffiness and release tightness amongst many positive things. I felt like it really helped work the oil into my quenched skin, Pietro himself is also a massive fan of the Gua Sha technique. Before going to bed I then applied the Rescue Recovery & Repair Serum. This would allow my skin to really rebuild and replenish overnight, this serum heals, removes redness, soothes and strengthens. I’m a firm believer of the replenishment overnight ideology, the body rests and allows all parts of it to reboot.
So with Winter slowly releasing its grip I am ready for brighter days to show off my new refreshed and positive self ready for Spring.
