Interview with Simon Hepworth

Simon Hepworth trained at LAMDA. Theatre work includes roles at the National Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre, Bristol Old Vic and London’s West End. Currently staring in Mother Of Him at the Park Theatre we got to speak about the gripping show and His career.

1) How did you get into acting, was there a particular performance you saw that resonated with you?

Watching Jack Wild as the Artful Dodger in Oliver! was a big moment. Then years later seeing Derek Jacobi in Cyrano de Bergerac blew me away.

2) What has been your favourite role you have played and why?

I’ve done Twelfth Night three times in different roles but playing Aguecheek was huge fun.

3) Can you tell us about your current, show Mother Of Him what can people expect from the show?

A powerful and moving story inspired by real events – it packs quite a punch!4) What drew you to the role of Robert?

I love his determination & quick brain – he’s a very good lawyer!

5) How does working at the Park theatre compare to somewhere like The National theatre?

I love the intimacy of the space here at the Park – it’s an exciting stage to play on.

6) Where has been your favourite place to perform on stage and why?

A few years ago I did A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Arundel Castle – a stunning backdrop

7) What is the most rewarding thing about your work?

Working with Scott Folan (he told me to say that).

8) What’s been a funny moment for you on stage? Any mishaps you want to share!?

Well, my trousers split onstage in a school playΒ Β  once – so glad that’s never happened again

9) Who are your influences and inspirations?

Always enjoyed Colin Firth’s work – and the variety of roles he’s played
