Christmas Gift Guide 2021

by Christina Mitsi

“I don’t know what to get them for Christmas” is a phrase I hear more often than ‘I’ve got them something they’ll love’. The fact is that there’s always someone who has everything or is just difficult to buy for. With this in mind I’ve compiled this gift guide full of things that will please even the fussiest of people and gifts that will appeal to teenagers and pensioners alike. All ages, all budgets and all readily available online to be delivered in time for Christmas!

The first item on my list came in very useful when sampling the cocktails for my Christmas Drinks Guide but would look very impressive on your table on Christmas day. A set of 4 diamante martini glasses  is the perfect gift for those who love a homemade cocktail with a touch of class! Arighi Bianchi, who have been making handmade furniture in Macclesfield, near Manchester, since 1854, have designed the set to add a touch of opulence to any dinner table and bring an element of contemporary charm to your home.

We all know someone who absolutely loves Christmas and goes wild for anything slightly festive, so why not get them this next gift and absolutely blow their mind. The Snowglobe Orange and Gingerbread Gin Liqueuer  is available from Harvey Nichols and is so much more than just a fancy looking bottle of gin cocktail. If the festive exterior of the box and bottle illustration by artist Edwina Buckley wasn’t enough, inside the bottle gold flecks swirl around in the mixture creating the effect of a snow globe. And if that wasn’t enough then turn the bottle upside down and press a button and watch as the whole thing lights up! I have to say I’ve never been more excited about a bottle of gin, but even if your recipient doesn’t enjoy the novelty, at least they can drown their sorrows with the liqueur!

If you want to give someone something you know they will use every day then a pair of headphones is essential in this day and age. I was sent the Edifier TWS NB2 Pro  to review for this guide and I have never gotten more use out of a product than these. I used to think that the wireless, Bluetooth earbuds were not for me as ones I’d had in the past used to either hurt my ears after a while or simply fall out too easily. But the Edifier buds stay put whether I’m doing a HIIT routine on the living room floor or chasing after my dog through woodland. The optional noise cancelling function is incredible, to the point where you can listen to your real crime podcast on your commute with no outside interruptions or listen to a soft violin solo while in a crowded gym without needing to be on full volume. A massive 32 hours of playtime is supported before you need to recharge and a quick 15 minute charge will give you 2 hours of playtime. A really impressive product that certainly changed my opinion. What do you get for someone who is stressed and struggles to get a good night’s sleep? Well I’ve found the perfect combination. Echor specialise in sleep and relaxation products. Whether you have a specific sleep disorder or just want to treat yourself to a more relaxing bed-time ritual, Echor offers science backed products that will give you the relaxation and night’s sleep you deserve. The End of Day Candle has been a real favourite in our house as after a few times of it being lit you associate the smell with relaxation and that end of the day feeling of putting your feet up and beginning to unwind. With Ylang Ylang, Lavender, Geranium and Sweet Orange (which they say have been shown to reduce stress hormones and lower blood pressure) the candle can burn for up to 60 hours and is 100% natural and vegan as well as in sustainable packaging.

I followed this evening ritual with my new nighttime routine using a lovely product from Olverum which has become one of their bestsellers. Their Restful Sleep Pillow Mist is an elegant diffuser which imbues linens and spaces with a serene natural fragrance, to help promote a tranquil mind and restful sleep. The sweet citrus notes of bergamot, the warm, rich woodiness of amyris, and the full-bodied fruitiness of potent high-altitude lavender combine to create a uniquely sumptuous and somniferous scent. I never believed I would need such a product in my life but I am fully converted to this. I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of this scent being sprayed on my bed linen each night and the bottle looks beautiful by my bedside. If candles and pillow mists aren’t quite what the man in your life would want then don’t worry because I have some suggestions for them too (however I will note that my partner loves the candle and pillow mist whenever I use them!). I got a gift from Groov-e for my partner to review as he prefers the satnav on his phone to the one that came with his car. A perfect gift for those who spend a lot of time in the car, the Groov-e QI Air Vent Mount  not only holds your phone, it also charges it wirelessly. Easy to use, it features an automatic detection and release grip system using infrared technology, literally taking charge of any device within seconds. Stick it to your window or on your air vents to display your phone screen safely while driving.

One thing I like to give my partner is something personal, or unique to them. I found a whole host of personalised gift ideas from Ligneus who make beautifully carved wood items in the Cotswolds. Everything from children’s climbing farmers, standing desks, wine racks and simple rulers are all hand carved and polished to perfection. I chose an Oak Artisan Canape Board and asked for both our names to be engraved onto it. With an angular, contemporary design and in integrated ergonomic handle making it easy to hold it is made from sustainably sourced oak and finished with a protective stain. There’s nothing like unboxing a product made of real wood but the smooth finish and personal touch really does make this such a wonderful gift this Christmas.

That’s the men sorted now for the young people in your life, I’m not talking toddlers or children I mean those sulky teenagers or 20 somethings who you have no idea what they like. This first one however I (a 30 something) thoroughly recommend for any woman and I’ll tell you why. The Juice Social range is to make your Social Media content POP! Whether your influencer daughter needs a ring light for make-up, vlogging, streaming or your son needs a tripod to help capture that perfect moment – Juice Social has everything they need to help create ideal content for seasoned or new social media users. I tried out their ‘Perfect Glow’ Desktop Ring Light with extendable legs  which gives you 10 different brightness settings as well as indoor, outdoor and natural light settings to choose from. Simply mount your phone in the middle and see the difference in your appearance. Now as a woman this is perfect not just for social media but for putting makeup on, plucking/dying my eyebrows, zoom meetings and if you’re a single woman it is great for when you’re on facetime or online dates. We love a versatile product!

The social media life isn’t for everyone though so if you know someone who likes to write down their thoughts and feelings instead of Tweeting about it then get them a notebook from Moleskine. Their wide range of beautiful notebooks and planners are the ideal gift for anyone whether they use it for daily thoughts or for jotting down meeting notes. The paper is made of material from well-managed, FSC® -certified forests and other controlled sources. I loved their Harry Potter Limited Edition range and know more than a few people who’d appreciate such a good quality design on their bedside table.

Finally something that every woman would love in their home this Christmas, a beautiful and festive bunch of flowers. EFlorist delivered to me the loveliest bouquet from their Winter Wonderland range combining the elegance of luscious red carnations and scented red lilies with subtle green foliage and the earthy tone of pine cones and hypericum berries finish off the festive masterpiece. Delivered via courier and with an optional message and free chocolates (what’s not to love!) This is a fantastic idea for gifting the woman you know who insists they don’t want a present or even just a way of thanking your mother-in-law for making the Christmas Dinner once again this year.
